Catch the outage before your members do.

Digital banking lives and dies on the login screen. When sessions time out and outages surface only as member complaints, trust leaves one failed login at a time. Here is how one credit union got sight of the whole stack, and became the first global reference for it.

Catch the outage before your members do Full Stack Observibility

Story highlights

  • The whole stack, in one view. Web, logic, and database tiers were brought together using enterprise and cloud agents, so a slow login could be traced to the tier that caused it.
  • Login failures down 68%. The sessions that timed out or failed dropped sharply once the team could see where they broke, and availability reached 99.99%.
  • The first global reference. Validated alongside Cisco’s team, it became the first Cisco reference customer for combined network and application performance.

The situation

A digital bank the team could not fully see.

A Bay Area credit union ran its digital banking across three to four application tiers, but had no unified view across them. Members logged in, moved money, and checked balances through a stack the team could only watch in pieces. Leadership set out to get full-stack visibility, and to tie it back to the business.

The problem

The failures only surfaced after the member hit them.

Without a view across the tiers, problems were found late, by the people the bank least wanted to find them. Three gaps drove it.

Nine percent of logins failed

Failed logins and session timeouts hit 9% of attempts, and the first sign was often a member who could not get in.

Outages went unseen until they landed

There was no way to detect internet outages proactively, so disruption reached members before the team knew.

Performance had no line to the business

Network and app performance data could not be linked to business KPIs, so no one could see what a slow tier cost.

What OnStak did

One view across every tier of the bank.

OnStak deployed full-stack visibility across the application, using enterprise and cloud agents that watched network and application performance together. Then it validated the whole thing alongside Cisco.

1

Instrumented every tier

Full-stack visibility was deployed across the web, logic, and database tiers, so no layer was left dark.

2

Watched network and app as one

Enterprise and cloud agents brought network and application performance into a single picture, rather than two separate tools.

3

Turned late surprises into early signals

With the full path in view, failing logins and internet disruption could be seen where they started, not after members felt them.

4

Validated alongside Cisco

The integration was proven with Cisco’s team, making the credit union the first Cisco reference customer for combined network and application performance.

What changed

From watching the stack in pieces to seeing it whole.

Before

The member found the fault first.

  • 9% of logins and sessions failed or timed out.
  • Internet outages could not be caught in advance.
  • Performance data was not tied to the business.
After, with OnStak

Now the team sees it first.

  • Login and session errors down 68%.
  • Digital banking availability at 99.99%.
  • The first global reference for combined observability.

The idea that holds it together

You cannot fix what you cannot see.

Resilience in digital banking is not more alerts. It is one honest view of the whole stack, so the team sees the fault before the member does.
